Your Library

The Electra C. Doren Branch is the oldest in the Dayton Metro System, first opening in 1928 in the Old North Dayton neighborhood. It was also the first completed project in the Libraries for a Smarter Future improvement plan. One of the few public buildings in the U.S. named after a woman, Miss Doren was an innovative library professional in Dayton at the turn of the 20th century. The Branch was re-dedicated in in January 2015, with the addition of a much-needed Community Room, a train-themed Children’s Area and an outdoor reading terrace featuring sculptural panels by Dayton artist Darren Kall.
