NEW Research Tools from GALE

Focus on African American History

Dayton Metro Library is excited to announce that patrons and community members will have access to two new African American research databases that will become part of our digital collection.

Slavery and Anti-Slavery: A Transnational Archive traces the global history of slavery between the 17th and 19th centuries through over five million pages of material. Also new to our collection, Archives Unbound offers 32 different collection titles covering a variety of sub-topics relating to African American history.

The Dayton Room - Local History + Genealogy

The Dayton RoomTHE DAYTON ROOM at the Main Library, houses more than 200 years of historical materials about Dayton, Montgomery County and the Miami Valley area. The Collection includes books, photographs, pamphlets, magazines, newspapers, maps, manuscripts, postcards, videos and more. Many of our historic images can also be found in Dayton Remembers, our online digital image database. Flatbed and cradle scanners in The Dayton Room are available to help you digitize your own family documents, photos and history. The Dayton Room is located on the 2nd Floor of the Main Library.
